Pakistan’s position on Iran issue clear; Khawaja Asif appeals for national unity

Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has clarified Pakistan’s position on the recent attack on Iran, saying that Pakistan has strongly supported Iran at the diplomatic level and this action has also been condemned in the United Nations. He said that Pakistan supports peace and stability in the region and does not consider aggressive actions against any country as a solution to the problem.

He said that in the current circumstances, the emotions of the people may naturally be affected; however, responsibility demands that we keep our response peaceful and balanced. The defence minister appealed to religious parties and the public to exercise restraint and not to disrupt the peace and order situation in the country.

Khawaja Asif said that if protests are held, they should be within the ambit of law and completely peaceful. He clarified that national unity and stability are the biggest needs of Pakistan at this time, and this is our real strength. According to him, if the nation remains united, no challenge is too big.
