Rawalpindi: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has said that Pakistan carried out decisive action along the Pak-Afghan border after what he termed aggression by the Afghan Taliban regime.

During a detailed press briefing, the military spokesperson stated that on the night between February 21 and 22, Pakistani forces targeted hideouts of “Fitna al-Khawarij” along the border.

He said that Pakistan had already briefed the media about earlier operations and that the latest action was part of continued defensive measures.

18 Afghan Posts Captured

According to the DG ISPR, Afghan Taliban forces carried out what he called a “so-called action,” claiming to target TTP hideouts. In response, Pakistan launched counter-operations wherever attacks originated.

He stated that Pakistani forces have captured 18 Afghan posts.

“In our strong response, 274 militants were killed and more than 400 were injured,” he said.

He further claimed that 115 enemy tanks and armored vehicles were destroyed or seized during the operation.

Targeted Operations in Multiple Afghan Cities

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said targeted operations were conducted in Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, Khost, and Paktika against facilitators of terrorism.

During the operation, 12 Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom, 27 were injured, and one soldier is reported missing.

Rejection of Civilian Target Claims

The DG ISPR rejected allegations circulating in Indian media about civilian casualties. He said Pakistani forces only targeted military positions in a professional manner.

He also claimed that Afghan forces opened direct fire at 53 locations across 15 sectors.

“Our effective response shows the readiness of Pakistan’s armed forces,” he added.

The military spokesperson said the nation stands firmly with its armed forces and reiterated that Pakistan will continue to defend its sovereignty.
