Super Eight hopes for Pakistan remain intact; the match against Namibia is decisive

Lahore: The competition in Group The mega cricket tournament has entered a very interesting phase. India has secured its place in the Super Eight stage by winning today’s match, while the Pakistan team is facing difficulties on the points table after the defeat.

The 61-run defeat at the hands of India has severely affected the run rate of the green shirts, and now the national team’s net run rate has become negative 0.403. Due to this, Pakistan has moved to third place in the group. On the other hand, the United States has earned four points with two wins in four matches and is in a better position than Pakistan on the points table due to a positive run rate of 0.788.

The national team will now play its last group match on February 18 against Namibia, which has become a “do or die” match for it. If Namibia succeeds in the upset, Pakistan will not only be out of the Super Eight race, but the tournament journey may also end. In such a case, the United States will qualify for the next stage along with India.

However, if Pakistan achieves success, the chances of reaching the Super Eight will become clear. Similarly, if the match is washed out due to rain, the national team can reach the next stage on the basis of points.

According to cricket analysts, now not only is a win not enough for Pakistan, but a win by a better margin may also be important so that the run rate is not further affected. The pressure on the team management and players has increased, and the eyes of the fans are focused on the last group match.
