PTA Warning: Using SIM registered in someone else’s name is a violation of law

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has clarified that the use of all mobile SIMs across the country is legal only if they are registered in the name of the concerned user. According to the authority, using a SIM registered in the name of another person falls under the category of violation of telecom laws.
The PTA says that the full responsibility for any activity done through the SIM or mobile device, including calls, messages or internet usage, will lie with the person in whose name the SIM is registered. Users have been instructed to monitor their SIMs themselves.
The authority further said that legal action can be taken against the concerned user in case of violation of rules and regulations. According to the PTA, these measures are being taken to protect the telecommunications system and maintain national confidence.
The PTA has urged the public to follow all instructions related to SIM registration to avoid any potential legal or technical issues.
