ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his determination to give a new dimension to bilateral relations in his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In the meeting, both countries agreed that Pak-Turkey cooperation can play a central role for regional stability and economic partnership.

During the conversation, the Prime Minister expressed his desire to further improve energy, investment, defense cooperation and political relations, while expressing satisfaction with the 16th meeting of the Pak-Turkey Joint Ministerial Commission.

PM Shehbaz Sharif, while praising Turkey’s role in facilitating the Pakistan-Afghan Taliban talks, clarified that:
“It is important to take Pakistan’s security concerns seriously for lasting peace.”

The Prime Minister stressed the need for timely implementation of the MoUs between the two countries and benefiting from the Turkish experience in privatization of power distribution companies. Ministerial-level exchanges in this regard are being arranged soon.

In addition, the Prime Minister also held meetings with other world leaders, including President of Turkmenistan Sardar Berdimuhamedow, in which trade, energy and peace in the region were discussed.
