The government has issued a new fee structure for Pakistan Single Window (PSW) services, updating all categories of subscription, renewal and goods declaration. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, this new fee system has been developed with the aim of improving the process of trade.

The FBR says that the PSW and SECP verification fee has been set at Rs 500, while the goods declaration fee will be charged according to the value of any consignment. Under the new schedule, there will be no fee on goods up to Rs 50,000. A fee of Rs 500 has been fixed for goods worth Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, while a fee of Rs 750 will be levied for goods worth Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1 million.

Additionally, a fee of Rs 1,000 will be levied on goods worth Rs 1 million to Rs 5 million, Rs 1,250 between Rs 5 million and Rs 1 crore and Rs 1,500 on goods worth Rs 1 crore to Rs 2.5 crore. A goods declaration fee of Rs 2,000 will be charged for goods worth more than this.

According to economic analysts, the new fees will not directly burden the import sector, as most of the values are modest; however, this move will improve the sustainability of the system, the strength of the digital infrastructure and the quality of clearance. According to them, PSW is already playing a significant role in making the trade process faster and more transparent, and this new fee structure is another step in that direction.
