LESCO begins system upgrade: Fog-resistant insulators to reduce tripping during winter smog

Lahore: In view of the increasing threat of fog and smog in Punjab, LESCO has started a plan to upgrade its power network. According to a spokesperson, the company has decided to install fog-resistant disc insulators to improve power transmission in the upcoming winter season.

Officials say that increased humidity during foggy weather causes dust to settle on transmission lines, which not only increases line faults but also leads to large-scale tripping incidents. The new insulators have the potential to reduce the effects of such weather and are specially designed for areas with low visibility.

According to experiences last year, consumers were deprived of power for several hours during a few severe weeks of fog, which affected domestic affairs, office activities and industrial production. According to LESCO, the installation of new insulators will significantly reduce this problem.

Power sector experts call this move “the most necessary upgrade for winters”.

LESCO officials have clarified that the new system will play a key role in ensuring a continuous and stable power supply, and the rate of winter breakdowns will be reduced.
