Justice Aminuddin Khan appointed as the first Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of Justice Aminuddin Khan as the first Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

This court has been established to give decisions on constitutional matters of Pakistan in order to reduce the pressure of constitutional cases on the Supreme Court. According to experts, this appointment is an important step towards judicial reforms.

According to sources, Justice Aminuddin Khan is retiring at the end of this month. His appointment as the first Chief Justice of the new court is a recognition of his judicial services and experience.
