Islamabad: According to the latest data released by the Bureau of Statistics, significant fluctuations are being seen in sugar prices in different cities of the country.
According to the document, the price of sugar per kg increased by Rs 23 in Sargodha during a week, after which the price of sugar in the city reached close to Rs 200 per kg. On the other hand, prices were reported to increase by Rs 5 per kg in Karachi and Hyderabad.
The maximum price of sugar per kg was recorded at Rs 200 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, while in Hyderabad the price increased from Rs 190 to Rs 195 per kg.
Interestingly, according to the Bureau of Statistics, the average price per kg across the country decreased by a marginal 12 paise, after which the average price of sugar was recorded at Rs 188.69 per kg.
The report said that during the same period last year, sugar was available at Rs 132.47 per kg, which means that the price of sugar has increased by about Rs 56 throughout the year.
