Lahore: Poultry prices in Lahore today witnessed a slight change, with chicken and egg prices remaining fairly stable in the city’s retail markets.
According to the latest official data, live chicken was available at Rs 318 per kilogram while chicken meat was available at Rs 461 per kilogram. Egg prices were recorded at Rs 315 per dozen in local markets.
Traders said that poultry prices were showing stability due to balanced supply of chicken in the provincial capital. They noted that despite the rising cost of feed and transportation, the market was still under control.
However, retailers warned that prices could fluctuate in the coming days if there is a change in weather or disruption in food supply, as the poultry sector is sensitive to both temperature and production costs.
Consumers in Lahore have welcomed the stabilization in poultry prices, as chicken and eggs are serving as cheap sources of protein amid inflation in other food categories.
