Islamabad: After the 14th CPEC meeting, Pakistan and China have announced new initiatives in the fields of education, technology and exports.
Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal said that 10,000 Pakistani students will be given scholarships in 50 major universities in China over 10 years so that they can master artificial intelligence, engineering, biotechnology and new technologies.
He said that Pakistan’s youth are the biggest strength and their education and training are essential to build the country on modern lines. We want Pakistan to become a strong $3 trillion economy by 2047 and the youth to lead this change.
Ahsan Iqbal added that Pakistan’s exports are showing weak performance while Pakistan’s share in China’s $2 trillion imports is only $3 billion. He demanded that Pakistani products be provided with facilities like those of ASEAN countries so that exports can increase significantly.
Pakistan and China agreed to establish joint research laboratories in artificial intelligence and quantum computing, while launching the CPEC Future Skills Program in IT, robotics, fintech and biotechnology.
