PM Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in the UN General Assembly, meetings with world leaders including Trump scheduled


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the UN General Assembly meeting to be held in New York this week.  According to the Foreign Office, the Prime Minister will meet with several world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, and heads of Muslim countries to highlight Pakistan’s position on regional and global issues.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and other ministers. During the visit, the Prime Minister will attend various meetings of the United Nations, including the Security Council, the Global Development Initiative and the High-Level Meeting on Climate Action.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the Prime Minister will draw the world’s attention to the Kashmir and Palestine issues in his address to the General Assembly. He will also outline Pakistan’s policy on global challenges such as climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia and sustainable development.

The official statement said that the Prime Minister will also highlight Pakistan’s commitment on this occasion that as a member of the Security Council, the country will further strengthen its role in implementing the objectives of the UN Charter, promoting peace and promoting global prosperity.
