Islamabad: According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid an important visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman. The Prime Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation.

The meeting held at the Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh discussed the historical relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and the future strategic partnership. The Prime Minister also expressed his best wishes for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson said that a strategic joint defense agreement was signed during the visit. This agreement is being described as a formal form of a decades-long partnership. According to the agreement, aggression against one country will be considered an attack on both, however, it is purely defensive in nature and not against any third country.

In this briefing, the spokesperson also said that the OIC meeting was recently held in Doha, Qatar, in which Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar participated and strongly rejected Israel’s attack on Qatar.

According to the Foreign Office, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir also visited Qatar and strongly condemned the Israeli aggression on Gaza and Palestine.
