Flood situation persists in rivers in Punjab, monsoon system ends in upper areas

Lahore: According to the Director General PDMA, the monsoon system has ended in upper areas and the tenth spell of rains has also been completed in Punjab. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of heavy rains during the next week, however, flood conditions persist in several rivers.

According to the details, the Sutlej River is currently under the highest pressure. The water flow at Ganda Singh Wala is 230 thousand cusecs, while high-level flood has been recorded at Sulemanki with 137 thousand cusecs.

In the Chenab River, there are low-level floods of 62 thousand cusecs at Marala, 98 thousand cusecs at Khanki and Qadirabad respectively. The water flow at Trimu is 250 thousand cusecs, while extremely severe flooding is ongoing at Panjnad with 475 thousand cusecs.

Similarly, the water level in the Ravi River is also high at various places. Moderate flood is ongoing at Jasr with 26,000 cusecs, Shahdara with 31,000 cusecs and Baloki with 80,000 cusecs, while the water level at Sadhanai has reached 121,000 cusecs, which has been declared as high flood.

According to the PDMA, all the relevant departments are on high alert on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab. The flow of rivers is being continuously monitored and resources have been mobilized to save human lives and property.
