Cement industry development: 21 percent increase in consumption, proposal to reduce tax

Karachi: The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has said in its report that the total consumption of cement increased by 21 percent to 7.847 million tons during the first two months (July and August) of the current fiscal year.

According to the data, local consumption in August 2025 increased by 10.33 percent to 3.1 million tons, while cement exports increased by 22 percent to 749 thousand tons.

The statement said that during July and August, local consumption alone increased by 14.25 percent to 6.09 million tons.

The APCMA spokesperson stressed that the country is facing serious problems after the recent rains and floods, so tax on cement should be reduced so that the rehabilitation projects of the affected areas can be completed at a low cost.
